GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2005. History: Named from the Mindanao Serin (Chyrsocorythus mindanensis), a bird species seen in small numbers in the Mount Apo and Mount Kitanglad regions of eastern Mindanao, Philippines. Its habitat is limited and susceptible to climate change. With a small population approaching vulnerable status, the species is classified as Near Threatened. It lives mostly in subtropical or tropical wet montane forests and high-altitude grassland.
