GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Brazilian survey vessel "Vital de Oliveira". Year of discovery: 2019. History: Named after Mário de Miranda Quintana (1906-1994), a Brazilian poet, translator and journalist who was born in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He received many awards, including one from the Brazilian Academy of Letters, in 1980, for his body of work. He is considered one of the most prominent authors of Brazilian literature of the 20th century. The feature is located nearby the Rio Grande Rise, itself named from the State where Mário Quintana was born.
