GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Russian research vessel "Gelendzhik". Year of discovery: 1999. History: Named after V.M. Yubco (1950-2022), the leading geologist of SSC «Yuzhmorgeologia» and a Russian world-known scientist. He was an explorer and expert in the field of searches and investigation, as well as of resource assessment of oceanic ferromanganese ores, in particular manganese polymetallic nodules of the Clarion-Clipperton ore zone.
