Notes GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-14. Proposer: Kunio Yashima, Japan Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department (JHOD). Year of proposal: 2001.    
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named from the Japanese fishing vessel "Myojin-Syo" that reported by radio the eruption of the submarine volcano at this position in October 1952. As a result, the Japanese survey vessel "Kaiyo-maru no. 5" moved to that site to make observations.    
Additional information (en): The usually-exposed reef like Bayonnaise Rocks, of hypersthene-augite-anorthite basalt, lie on the southwest rim of this caldera.
