ESF-EMBO Symposia

The European Science Foundation (ESF) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), within the framework of the
ESF Research Conferences Scheme, have agreed to co-sponsor a series of meetings, to be known as ESF-EMBO Symposia, which will
be at the highest scientific level with respect to topics and choice of participants.

A Call for Proposals is now open for up to five Symposia, co-sponsored by ESF and EMBO, which will take place in 2007. The Call is
addressed to leading European scientists for Symposia to take place in Europe. ESF-EMBO Symposia will bring together participants and experts from the Life Sciences and other related science disciplines to discuss topics that are of major importance to the scientific community in Europe. Topics should be at the forefront of scientific research and should be interdisciplinary, focusing on Biology at the interface with other disciplines such as Chemistry, Physics, Computer Sciences, Mathematical Modelling, Space Science, Clinical Medicine, Engineering, Environmental Science, Humanities and Social Sciences.

ESF-FWF Conferences in Partnership with LFUI

The ESF and the Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung in Österreich (FWF), in partnership with the Leopold-
Franzens-Universität Innsbruck (LFUI), have agreed to co-sponsor a series of Scientific Conferences, within the framework of the ESF
Research Conferences Scheme. A Call for Proposals is open for five conferences, co-sponsored by ESF and FWF in partnership with LFUI, which will take place in calendar year 2007 (proposals may be for a series of up to two events, in which case the second event would take place in 2009). The Call is addressed to leading European scientists for conferences to take place at the Universitätszentrum Obergurgl, located at the end of the Oetztal Valley, Tirol, Austria. ESF-FWF Conferences in partnership with LFUI will bring together
participants and experts from the areas of Physics/Biophysics and Environmental Sciences to discuss topics that are of major importance
to the scientific community in Europe.

Deadline: 1 October 2005

The Proposals will be evaluated through International Peer Review and assessed by ESF and the partner organizations. The selection outcome will be announced in March 2006.
