5th European Conference on Ecological Restoration

Event Description:
European Conference on Ecological Restoration with a special topic of coastal ecosystems with different sessions to saltmarshes and dunes.

GOAL
The conference’s goal is to meet the challenges of land use changes in and outside Europe by exchanging knowledge and experience on the ecological, economical, and ethical dimensions of Ecological Restoration.

AUDIENCE
Ecological restoration relies on different viewpoints, interests, and experiences. The Conference will be a forum for scientists, professionals, consultants, managers, economists, policy makers, governmental administrations, NGOs, philosophers, lawyers, journalists, and industrials responsible for restoration.

Themes of the conference: Land use changes and restoration

GENERAL ASPECTS
-Economics of restoration / Ecosystem services and their economic evaluation
-Ethical and socio-cultural aspects of restoration
-Planning, managing, and monitoring of restoration projects
-Unifying concepts in restoration ecology (Restoration theory)
-Restoring biodiversity in semi-natural landscapes (ecosystem and population level)
-Restoration policy and legislature
-Synergies and integrative concepts

SPECIAL ECOSYSTEMS

-Peatlands
-Woodlands
-Semi deserts, dry grasslands and heaths (incl. Restoration to counteract desertification)
