Deadline MARBEF Newsletter N1

Location:
Event Type: Other
Event Date: 2004-06-01

Event Description:
We are aiming to produce the first MARBEF newsletter by July 1st 2004. The newsletter will act as a dissemination tool not just to those in the MARBEF network but also to the wider marine community in Europe.

The newsletter will have several sections and I invite submissions of articles on the following.

  • MARBEF progress
  • Details of the aims and objectives the MARBEF network, list participating insitutes, contact details for the various themes etc.
  • Short reports from MARBEF workshops and meetings.
  • Articles on taxonomy and biodiversity.
  • Wider marine biodiversity and ecosystem function topics
  • Articles on marine biodiversity issues around Europe
  • Reports on local, national, European and international marine biodiversity and marine biodiversity and ecosystem function, projects and initiatives (cruises, research, etc)
  • Articles on local or regional marine biodiversity issues (exotic species invasions, nature conservation or management issues, etc)
  • Student projects - these are particularly encouraged
  • Meetings and conferences
  • Marine biodiversity workshops, conferences and meetings

Articles should be written in a popular 'National Geographic' style and all articles can be accompanied with two full photographs, maps or drawings (supplied in a suitable format). Please send me image files rather than pictures embedded in a word document. Articles should be between 1/2 and 2 pages.

All articles and newsletters will be archived on the MARBEF website (www.marbef.org). Examples of the types of articles I am looking for, produced for the BIOMARE and MARS newsletters, are available at the BIOMARE website (www.biomareweb.org) on the newsletters page.

In order for articles to be compiled into the newsletter prior to publication I would need contributions by the 1st June 2004.

If you are willing to offer an article for the newsletter please do not hesitate to contact me. I thank you all in advance.
