Event Description:
ESOF2006 is the second pan-European General Science Meeting to be held in Munich at the Forum am Deutschen Museum and the Deutsches Museum. ESOF2006 especially reaches out to young scientists, young journalists and students through an extensive Career Programme offering educational workshops and seminars on career development, as well as a fresh look at the current job market situation and the alternatives available. Furthermore, through the ESOF2006 Exhibition and the numerous networking and social events, young participants have the opportunity to meet representatives from academia and industry. The ESOF2006 Outreach Activities, comprising of hands-on experiments, games and science cafés, will be jointly held with the Wissenschaftssommer 2006 (the German national science week) in Munich from July 15th to the 21st. Both events are free and open to the [public] and will take place at the Marienhof square, behind the historical town hall.

ESOF2006 is proud to announce an interdisciplinary programme presenting science at the cutting-edge. Its pillars are seven themes, covering the whole spectrum from the natural sciences to the social sciences and the humanities. Their titles are: Dealing with Disasters, The Workings of Life, Combining Cultures, The Fabric of Science, Science Policy, Particles and Planets, Earth and Environment.
