MarBEF Training course on Bioassay Methods in Marine Chemical Ecology

Event Description:
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The overall aim is to present a course with emphasis on techniques for setting up basic protocols to monitor the responses of marine organisms to secondary metabolites and the role that these compounds play in mediating ecological interactions. Lecture topics will be focused on the ecological effects of secondary metabolite production in microbes, phyto- and zooplankton, benthic macrophytes and invertebrates. The course will include applications and illustrations of theory in laboratory experiments.

COST: The cost for accommodation at the Tjärno Marine Biological Laboratory including all meals, will not exceed 3 500 SKR (VAT excl.) or 350 Euros. Travel expenses are paid by the participants but 3 bursaries will be awarded to MarBEF associated partners.

APPLICATIONS: Applications should be sent by e-mail and include department address, phone and e-mail together with a BRIEF description of the applicants’ research. Ph.D.-students should indicate the time remaining until expected dissertation. The maximum number of students that will be accepted is 20.
