European Biodiversity Research for a Sustainable Europe: Research contributing to the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy

Location:
Event Type: E-conference
Event Date: 2007-03-12
End Date: 2007-03-30

Event Description:
The organisers of the German meeting of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS) and the BioStrat project coordinators invite you to participate in the electronic conference on "European Biodiversity Research for a Sustainable Europe: Research contributing to the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy" which will run from the 12th-30th March 2007. The results of the Electronic Conference will be presented at the EPBRS delegates meeting in Leipzig, Germany on the 5th-7th May 2007.

The aim of the EPBRS e-conference and meeting during the German EU presidency is to contribute to the 2010 target of halting biodiversity loss in the European Union by strengthening the perspectives for integrated biodiversity research in Europe. To achieve this, the e-conference and meeting will bring together new aspects from different sectors outlined in the Biodiversity Action Plans with new approaches outlined in the recent Communication (COM(2006) 216 final), especially focussing on the concept of ecosystem services.

The E-conference preceding the German EPBRS meeting will focus on the three following issues:
- Session I: Research contributing to reaching the 2010 target in thewider countryside
- Session II: European biodiversity research and the global perspective
- Session III: Biodiversity and ecosystem services: the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment concept from a European perspective

You are kindly invited to subscribe to the electronic conference by filling the subscription form available at:http://www.nbu.ac.uk/biota/e-conference.htm.

In case of any difficulty subscribing, please e-mail Juliette Young on j.young@ceh.ac.uk.
