MarBEF Theme 3 Workshop: Ecological data to quantify goods and services

Location: Plymouth (UK)
Event Type: Workshop
Event Date: 2007-08-13
End Date: 2007-08-16

Event Description:
Pre-registration and expressions of interest are requested for a brain-storming workshop bringing together those from Themes 1 (including those participating in the workshop “Modelling key aspects of marine biodiversity”), 2 and 3 within MarBEF to discuss how ecological data can be used to quantify changes in ecosystems’ delivery of services. Ecosystem-regulating and habitat-maintaining services (e.g. resilience and resistance, disturbance prevention, nutrient cycling, gas and climate regulation etc.) are supported, or provided, by marine biodiversity and each is an integration of many different ecological processes. How can we convert the diversity of available ecological data to a quantification of services, and how can we take account of spatial and temporal variation?

Please note that the United Kingdom National Fireworks Competition takes place outside the MBA on the nights of the 14th and 15th of August.
