Míol Mór 2004 - First Irish Whale and Dolphin Group International Whale Conference

Location: Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork, Ireland
Event Type: Other
Event Date: 2004-09-23
End Date: 2004-09-26

Event Description:
The theme of the conference is to put the recent discovery of the presence of fin and humpback whales off the coast of County Cork into an international perspective.

We are bringing together the foremost authorities on humpback and fin whales in the Northwest Atlantic (Phil Clapham and Martine Bérubé) together with Simone Panigada, who has worked with fin whales in the Mediterranean and Greg Donovan, Head of Science at the International Whaling Commission.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group will present the results of four years of monitoring large whales off County Cork and current research aimed at determining what is attracting these whales to the Irish coast.

It promises to be a stimulating and exciting conference for everybody interested in whales in Ireland and the Northeast Atlantic.
