Status As noted by Pettibone (1976: 67) Fauvel illustrated and stated that the median antenna of Macellicephala macrophthalma Fauvel, 1913 was broken, not absent (contra Hartmann-Schröder, 1974). Known from a single specimen in poor condition; the cylindrical ("Hesionid-like") body, 29 segments and 13 pairs of elytra (Fauvel, 1913: 9-10, figure 4) are unlike any Macellicephalinae.
