Depth range The type material, one single specimen, was stated as having been collected at 'greater depths' (aus grösserer Tiefe; Langerhans, 1879: 546), probably in comparison with the biggest part of the rest of the material studied by Paul Langerhans, collected mainly at the intertidal to shallow water depths. Distribution Northeast Atlantic Ocean: Madeira Island. Disjunct distribution according to Musco & Giangrande (2005). [details]
Etymology Species dedicated to Friedrich Leopold August Weismann (b. Frankfurt am Main, 17 January 1834 - d. Freiburg, 05 November 1914), a German evolutionary biologist and Professor of Zoology at the University of Freiburg, where he was colleague of Paul Langerhans. [details]
