Thiele was sole author of the families Pectinidae, Limidae, Mytilidae and of the Taxodonta; Jaeckel & Thiele co-authored most the others – see figure captions). The authorship of the Bivalvia chapter, officially by Thiele and Jaeckel (1931) is explained in detail in a footnote on p. 161 of vol. 21 (Appendicularien und Muscheln) of the series “Deutsche Tiefsee-Expedition 1898-1899”
