Taxonomy This name is very probably a misspelling of the original Microciona simplicissima Bowerbank, 1869 (in Norman, 1869). The later list published in 1882 refers to the 1874 figures and descriptions as M. simplicissima where in fact the name is spelled throught the 1874 book (plate LXXII, text on pp. 198 and 204, index) as M. simplicissima. [details]
