Authority Luther (1948) introduces the name Promesostominae as a subfamilie. Dan Hartog (1964) raises it to the level of family, stating Promesostomidae nov. fam. (p. 375). However, changes in rank within a categorial group (in this case the family group) does not alter authorship (ICZN Art.50.3.1). Hence Luther (1948) is the author of the name Promesostomidae.
