Plumage: tail, rump, back and wings dark greyish brown; mantle pale greyish brown; hindneck collar white; crown black with black through eye; white forehead continuous with white eyebrow; below white; outer rectrices of tail white. Immature above with cream edges to feathers, forecrown white and white streaking on hindcrown, nape black; below greyish white. Bare parts: iris brown; ; bill black; feet and legs black.
