Distribution Yellow Sea and South China Sea. Conde-Vela & Wu (2019: cast doubt on the Núñez et al. (2000) report of Sinonereis heteropoda as Nicon sinica from Cape Breton, Bay of Biscay, Atlantic Ocean, and the Sinonereis reported by Gillet & Dauvin (2000) from the Azores. [details]
Type locality Yellow Sea. There is no holotype geolocation or collection station given in the original article. Conde-Vela & Wu (2019) give it as 36 N, 121 E, and station 3031, depth 30 m, which corresponds to a symbol for the species mapped in Wu & Sun (1979) [details]
