Nomenclature All 'belgica' synonyms before Malmgren 1866 are believed to have been what is now Lagis koreni (NOT belgica sensu Malmgren) In Opinion 1225 Sabella tubiformis is suppressed for priority [details]
Taxonomy Not Sabellidae, instead belongs in Pectinariidae. Sabella tubiformis Pennant, 1777 was a name for a pectinariid tube only, not the worm living inside it. Pennant associated the name Nereis cylindraria belgica of Pallas with Sabella tubiformis, but earlier he referred to Nereis conchilega as inhabiting Sabella tubiformis. Because of the identification error by Malmgren which changed the meaning of Pectinaria belgica, the name now belongs under Lagis koreni [details]Unreviewed
Type locality Atlantic Ocean, England [details]
