Nomenclature A junior synonym of Fusinus rostratus (Olivi, 1792), used as the valid name by a few authors on the grounds that Murex rostratus Olivi, 1792 is preoccupied. The case should be presented to the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature for a ruling but meanwhile it is desirable to maintain the prevalent usage of the well known name rostratus [details]
