Classification Erected by Webb (1969) for all Pogonophora lacking a frenulum ('bridle' structure). At the time this was one species, but Webb also created new family Lamellibrachiidae and a new order, Vestimentifera for his new species Lamellibrachia barhami. Later Jones (1981) elected to create a yet higher rank, subphylum Obturata to include the Afrenulata [details]
