Vitreotubus digeronimoi n.g., n.sp. (Polychaeta Serpulidae) from the Lower Pleistocene of Sicily and the bathyal zone of the Azores and the Indian Ocean. The new species, type of a new genus, is described in detail after recent material from the Atlantic, and accessorily, from the Indian Ocean. Its vitreous tube of a very particular shape has been found fossil in the Mediterranean basin. The species which no longer lives in the Mediterranean, may be used as a paleoecological indicator.
La nouvelle espèce, type d'un genre nouveau, est décrite en détail d'après du matériel actuel de l'Atlantique et, accessoirement, de l'océan Indien. Son tube, vitreux et d'une forme très particulière, a été trouvé à l'état fossile dans le bassin méditerranéen. L'espèce qui ne vit plus en Méditerranée. peut
servir d'indicateur paléoécologique.
