Additional information The holotype is 7 mm long. Similar specimens were frequently found in the same samples as Marphysa bellii, thus it is considered to be a juvenile of M. bellii (Çinar, 2005).  [details]

Synonymy Cinar (2005: 153) suggested Lysibranchia paucibranchiata was a synonym of Marphysa bellii (Cinar misspells the species-group name as 'belli') with the following comments: "The Cypriot specimens similar to the Cantone's specimen frequently co-occurred with Marphysa belli [sic], which has five antennae, branched branchiae limited on some anterior chaetigers, and other morphological characters such as subacicular hooks, maxillae and mandible very similar to the specimen described by Cantone. I therefore suppose that L. paucibranchiata might be a synonym of M. belli [bellii]." [details]
