Synonymy Kaas (1954) as well as Bullock (1972) refer to this species as Chaetopleura fulva (Wood). The latter, after having seen the types of C. angulatus and C. ferrugineus, confirmed their conspecificity with fulvus and lusitanicus, considering the names of Spengler and Tilesius nomina oblita under article 23b of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. That article, however, was withdrawn in 1972, making the declaration of nomina oblita the exclusive right of the Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, so there is no reason to ignore the oldest available name in favour of a junior synonym, which C. fulvus undoubtedly is.
