Nomenclature Czerniavsky, 1881 clearly intended Langerhansia as a subgenus of Syllis, so that is how the name is presented in WoRMS. He actually wrote the combinations with his new species in the form of "Langerhansia (Syllis)" an impossible combination sequence as Syllis has decades of priority and cannot be a subgenus of a new name. It is not clear that he realized his presentation could be misinterpreted. [details]
Type species The Hartman catalogue (1959:210) lists "Langerhansia sexoculata (Ehlers, 1864)" as type species (her genotype) of Langerhansia, but this is not correct as Syllis sexoculata was not included by Czerniavsky in his Syllis (Langerhansia) subgenus [details]
