Synoptic description of site:

A semi-enclosed water region with its own hydrological and biogeological characteristics, and high diversity of habitats.

 

Habitat description:

Sublittoral/hydrolittoral peat bottoms, inner coastal (shallow) waters, hard clay bottoms, sandy bottom of the photic/aphotic zone, sublittoral sandy bottoms with/without macrophyte vegetation, hydrolittoral sandbanks, sublittoral mussel beds, sandy spit, sandy beaches

Pristiness: High

Justification:

Human impact: local agriculture, industry, municipal waste waters; a sink for the input of the Vistula River, second biggest river in the Baltic Sea drainage area Environmental stress: brackish character, high temperature variations
