Etymology Not stated. The species is probably named in honour of Peter Fredrik Wahlberg (b. Gothenburg, Sweden, 19 June 1800 - d. Stockholm, 22 May 1877), a Swedish entomologist and professor at the University College of Stockholm, and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences from 1830, serving as the Academy's secretary from 1848 to 1866.
