Etymology Derivation of helmatus Latinisation not stated, and usage is almost unique. Author: "Lo scarso numero di esemplari e la delicatezza di essi non mi hanno permesso un esame più particolareggiato di questa nuova specie che per la caratteristica dell' opercolo ho denominato Eupomatus helmatus" [The small number of specimens and the delicacy of them did not allow me a more detailed examination of this new species for the characteristic of 'operculum I called Eupomatus helmatus] [details]

Grammatical gender Helm and helmet are not from Latin, though the author's construction appears to be intended as masculine adjectival from 'helm' plus -atus meaning helm-like, and thus subjective to gender agreement on recombination.  [details]
