Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Fauchald (1977: 102): "Body ovate, caruncle high, loosely plaited and rugose. Branchiae pennate. Dorsal cirri double; eyes present." [details]
Etymology Not stated in the original description. It seems to be composed by the name of the genus Chloeia Lamarck, 1818, followed by the suffix of Greek origin -opsis, meaning 'likeness', and would refer to the resemblance between the two genera. [details]
Taxonomy Created for Chloenea atlantica which (fide Fauchald, 1977) is not a Chloeia. [details]
Taxonomy Chloenopsis Fauchald, 1977 may be valid simply as a new genus for Chloenea sensu McIntosh and C. atlantica McIntosh, 1885, which is not a Chloeia (according to Fauchald, 1977). However, Fauchald mistakenly created it as a replacement name (See note for Chloenea atlantica). Borda et al (2015:327) mistakenly credit Chloenopsis authorship to McIntosh, 1885. [details]
