Homonymy Magelona minuta Eliason, 1962 is an unavailable name because it is an unreplaced junior primary homonym to Magelona filiformis minuta Wilson, 1959. A replacement name is required. The two names are species-group primary homonyms, and it does not matter that one is a subspecies, and the other a species (Article 57.2), or that the Magelona filiformis minuta syntypes have been placed as a synonyms of the stem species, Magelona filiformis, or that Magelona filiformis minuta was originally described as a variety [note by G. Read, December 2018]
Mortimer & Mills (2020) subsequently have applied to the ICZN for the suppression of Magelona filiformis minuta in favour of junior homonym Magelona minuta Eliason. [details]
