Etymology McIntosh (1900: 330) states "Named after the best benefactress in Marine Zoology my museum ever had." Clearly McIntosh was nodding to those around him who would know who this is, but it is not so immediately obvious now. Perhaps it was his mother, Eliza, and perhaps she was the E. M. noted as the collector of the worm in 1870 and also the collector of Enipo elisabethae (a different taxon). [details]
Status indeterminable, thus doubtful species (cf. Tebble & Chambers 1982) (R. Barnich) [details]
Synonymy Although Tebble & Chambers (1982) placed as indeterminable, Barnich & Fiege (2009: 49) also appear to have examined the syntypes and comment that "Although the two syntypes of Lagisca elisabethae McIntosh, 1900 have lost their elytra today, the typical reticulate pattern of the elytra was described by McIntosh (1900), thus leaving no doubt on the synonymy with H. impar" [details]
Type locality Off St Andrews, Scotland. "Procured from the debris brought by fishing-boats from the off-shore waters, St. Andrews, 1870 (E. M.)" Therefore a specimen collected thirty years before publication. [details]
