Etymology Not stated, but evidently named after Dr Gwyn Jeffreys, one of the shipboard scientists. Single i suffix here, although McIntosh varied whether he used 1 or 2 'i' for species names based on Gwyn Jeffreys. Subsequent to 1876 McIntosh always used a double 'ii' and wrongly spelled the taxon name he had created.. [details]
Spelling It seems in 1876 McIntosh used jeffreysi for about 3 annelid species, but he always later used jeffreysii with a double i [details]
Type locality author: "Dredged in 165 fathoms off the west coast of Ireland (Station 9] in 1869. " Later McIntosh (1900) gives the geolocation as lat. 53° 16' N., and long. 12° 42' W. [details]
