From editor or global species database
Taxonomy The Systema Porifera (Hooper, 2002: Raspailiidae, p. 506) assigned this genus to the synonymy of Lithoplocamia (with question). The type species, Isodictya spinispiculum, differs considerably from Lithoplocamia in having only a single spicule category of peculiar strongyles, bent in opposite direction at both ends and possessing spines only in the middle parts. It is here judged to be a valid genus and its raspailid nature needs further corroboration. Redmond et al. (2013) reassigned the genus to marine Haplosclerida based on 18S sequence data. Erpenbeck et al. 2023 confirmed the haplosclerid affiliation. The membership of Janulum of family Phloeodictyidae, based on close association with genus Siphonodictyon, is tentative because the type species of Oceanapia is apparently distant to Janulum and Siphonodictyon.
