Homonymy Chelonaplysilla erecta (Row, 1911) (Megalopastas erectus and C. erecta Tsurnamal, 1967 are secondary homonyms, but were assigned to be synonyms by Bergquist (1980), presumed to be an example of Lessepsian migration. Van Soest et al. (2020: 25-26) agreed with this proposed synonymy. Homonymy was thus removed. [details]
Taxonomic remark Chelonaplysilla erecta has Northern Red Sea as type locality. The Chelonaplysilla specimens collected in the Caribbean region as well as in the south-west Atlantic represent another species: Chelonaplysilla americana Van Soest, 2017. [details]
