Type locality Originally described from the Gulf of Mannaar, India-Sri Lanka, but a Mediterranean subspecies was described by Rosell & Uriz,2002 (q.v.). Remarkably, Rosell & Uriz suggest that the Azorean specimens belong to the nominal subspecies from India and not the much closer Mediterranean subspecies. [details]
