Taxonomy Cella et al. (2016) recognize Cuthonella as a valid genus, but treated as polyphyletic the genus Cuthona as currently conceived, being several species moved to Tenellia A, Costa, 1866 and others to Cuthonella. Therefore, all the species originally described under Cuthonella and transferred by other authors to Cuthona are here treated as accepted under their original combination, even if not cited in Cella et al. (2016) [details]
