Taxonomy Hooper & Wiedenmayer (1994) suggest that this species is a junior synonym of Dysidea gumminae (sic) Ridley (1884) allegedly based on Bergquist (1965). However, no such statement was made by Bergquist. We leave Dysidea gumminea Rildey as a separate valid species until a revision of the type material has been made. [details]
