One year later, Michaelsen, while assisting Pfeffer (1890: see pp. 478–479, 510) in compiling the list of Antarctic littoral annelids, corrected himself using Marionina (p. 511) as the genus name for M. georgiana, although no name replacement (nomen novum) was explicitly stated. That Michaelsen himself was responsible for replacing the junior homonym Marionia Michaelsen, 1889 (non Vayssiere, 1877, Mollusca!) and should thus maintain the authorship (ICZN 1999: Art. 50.1.1), is further documented by two sources: Ude (1896: p. 17, footnote 1) and Michaelsen’s monograph (1900: p. 73). Throughout the twentieth century, the genus was referred to as Marionina Michaelsen, 1889; yet, according to the ICZN (1999: Art. 60.3), a new replacement name has its own author and date. Thus, the correct nomenclature of the genus should be Marionina Michaelsen, 1890.
