A checklist of the taxa of Sigalionidae and Pholoidae is presented. All original names of the 266 species referred to Sigalionidae or Pholoidae have been extracted from literature references. According to the most recent revisions and other recent papers, 116 species and subspecies in 22 genera are currently accepted in the Sigalionidae and 50 species are accepted as synonyms; 24 species in Pholoidae with 10 species are synonyms. One species each is now referred to the Aphroditidae, Eulepethidae and Polynoidae. Apart from these, one genus and 64 species names, which were assigned before 1969 and have not been included in the revisions of genera or groups of genera in the Sigalionidae or Pholoidae, are here considered to be of uncertain status. Comments are given to some of those species.
