Indopacific Neogene rotaliid species are grouped into the genera Ammonia, CHALLENGERELLA gen. nov., Asterorotalia, Cavarotalia and Pseudorotalia defined by the geometry of the umbilical canal system. The separation of these genera which evolve simultaneously in time allows for better definition of established species and leads to the proposal of several new species. All recognized species belong to the Indonesian-Central Pacific biogeographic province. They occur mainly in the lower part of the photic zone. They were used successfully to subdivide the Indopacific Neogene into 6 biostratigraphic units and to mark delta-front deposits in the Kutei Basin (eastern Kalimantan). [Taxa described include: Ammonia beccarii (Linne', 1758), A. reyi (Marie, 1952), A. inflata (Sequenza, 1862), A. umbonata (Le Roy, 1944), A. pila sp. nov., A. ikebei (Inoue et Nakaseko, 1951), Challengerella bradyi sp. nov., C. persica sp. nov., Asterorotalia trispinosa (Thalmann, 1933), A. dentata (Parker et Jones, 1865), A. milletti nomen nov. [ = Rotalia schroeteriana Parker et Jones var. inflata Millett, 1904], A. concinna (Millett, 1904), A. gaimardii (D'Orbigny, 1906), A. g. inermis ssp. nov., A. yabei (Ishizoki, 1948), Cavarotalia annectens (Parker et Jones, 1865), Pseudorotalia schroeteriana (Porter et Jones, 1862), P. s. angusta ssp. nov., P. indopacifica (Thalmann, 1935), P. globosa (Yabe et Asano, 1937), P. alveiformis (Thalmann, 1934), P. catilliformis (Thalmann, 1934) and P. papuanensis Belford, 1966].
