Etymology [The species name was derived from Latin validus, strong, fortified, and probably referred to the strong middorsal and lateroventral spinose processes as Zelinka (1928, p. 352) stated: "Besonders kräftige Rücken- und Seitenzacken zeichnen dieses Tier aus und verleihen ihm ein wehrhaftes Aussehen." = Especially strong dorsal and lateral spinose processes characterize this animal and give it an armed appearance.] [details]
