Perinereis rullieri is a new species of Nereid of the eastern coast of Sicily. The Author has studied a population of 465 specimens collected during many years. All groups of paragnaths are present on the proboscis (the region I generally has l tooth; the region V has 3 teeth arranged in a triangle; the region III shows a central group and two lateral ones). The posterior parapodià do not appear to be much modified compared to the anterior ones. The notopodium has omogomph [sic] spinigers; the superior neuropodial setae are omogomph [sic] spinigers and heterogomph falcigers, the inferior neuropodial setae are heterogomph spinigers and heterogomph falcigers. The shape of the parapodia and the setae varies along the body segments as pointed out by the Author. As to some characteristics, Perinereis rullieri appears to be similar to Perinereis cultrifera but by comparing these species to one another, many differences may be pointed out. The salient differences concern: l) arrangement, size, shape and number of the paragnaths in some regions of the proboscis; 2) shape of the parapodia and (3) of the setae
