Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese novelist Shoyo Tsubouchi (1859-1935), during the Meiji to Taisho periods of Japan. He made a complete translation into Japanese of the plays of William Shakespeare. At that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. However, the last name Tsubouchi is used here as there exists already a feature named after the Japanese survey vessel "Shoyo", that is, Shoyo Seamount. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province.
GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-30. Proposer: Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN). History: 2017.
Additional information (en): This feature has an almost conical shape and a steepness of ~ 13 %. The single position is that of the summit. Most of the Japanese writers relevant to the Great Writers Seamount Province were active in late 1800's to early 1900's. Minimum depth (m): 4889. Maximum depth (m): 5899. Total relief (m): 1010. Dimension: 15 km × 15 km
