History: Russian ice drift station North Pole 28 (NP-28) drifted across the feature in the summer of 1988 and recorded the seismic data that most clearly expresses the existence of the Seachannel. The name "NP-28" is a tribute to the contribution of Russian ice stations to the exploration of the Arctic Ocean. |
