History: Tupiniquim refers to a Brazilian indigenous group that belongs to the Tupi Nation (Indigenous people that spoke the Tupi language and lived in the Brazilian coast in the 16th century). They were the first indigenous group that the Portuguese colonizers made contact with when discovering Brazil.
