GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2008. History: Named from the Talisay tree (Terminalia catappa). Also calledTropical Almond tree, Talisay is a deciduous tree that grows mainly alongsandy seashores. Its leaves have been proven to provide help in improving the survival and health of various aquatic species. Oil extracted from the tree is edible and has potential for industrialapplications.
