GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: U.S. research vessel "Robert D. Conrad". Year of discovery: 1963. History: ‘'Forró'' is a musical genre and also the name of the party originated at the end of 19th century in the nearby Brazilian State of Pernambuco (northeast of Brazil). Although this musical genre is common everywhere in Brazil, it is specially popular in the northeast region. The Forró songs are danced in pairs and are traditionally performed by instrumental trios with accordion, zabumba and triangle. The Forró was recognized as intangible cultural heritage of Brazil In 2021. |
