Abstract
This report summarizes the results of the first meeting of the UNEP-UNESCO task team on the impact of expected climate change on mangroves held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1-3 June 1992, prior and within the spirit of UNCED. At the meeting, the Task Team was established. The meeting considered the existing publications and recommendations related to climate change and its monitoring in the coastal zone. The major lines of activities to achieve scientific and applied objectives related to climate impact of mangroves were determined.
