Abstract
    The first session of the Panel for Integrated Coastal Observation (PICO) was held in Paris, France on 10-11 April 2008. PICO is a sub-committee of the GOOS Scientific Steering Committee (GSSC) and provide advice to the GSSC on matters pertaining to the coastal module of GOOS.The aim of the first session was to foster an open discussion along PICO's Terms of Reference. Action plans and recommendations from the meeting are summarized in the report, and separated into the following categories:1-Coastal system of Systems (the Global Coastal Network)2-Regional GOOS/GRAs3- Mechanisms: coordination of existing activities, pilot projects, workshops and capacity building4- Other
